Dear Diary,
I am very happy to hear that Ah Hock is enjoying his new job.He is taking it very seriously, as Mr Chong is very pleased with his work as Ah Hock did not complain or grumble and he is working very hard.It must be tough for him to ride on the bicycle to deliver goods to people In the hot afternoon sun.He must have said that story to not worry the family as delivering goods in the afternoon is excruciating and tiring.He must had sweated a lot and took a long time going to each place.If my husband did not pass away,he would be in school,continuing with is studies.Luckily,today I received his pay and we can continue to survive.
Today,there was another good news. Ah Nya's teacher advised her to be a typist and I feel it is a good choice as it is an office job and has decent pay.Once she leaves school and becomes a typist, live would be easier with another person supporting the family.I hope that my husband is not worrying as everything is going well.I will end here,and hope that the family can lead a normal life even without my husband.

Ah Kee Scene 1

10th April 2017
Dear diary,
Father had just passed away this morning and my whole family is very upset about it. Especially mother,who is totally at a lost of how to continue maintaining this family without out sole breadwinner. I am also grieving about that fact that father had already left us. Luckily,Ah Hock,my eldest brother,had volunteered to help mother to maintain this family by sacrificing his education to go out to work so that the rest of us could continue to study. I am very glad to have such a good brother because he sacrificed his education halfway so that the rest of us could continue to study and so that we can get a better job in future. And fortunately,Mr.Chong who owns a provision shop also offered Ah Hock a job and that he could earn some money to support the family. I also told mother that we could ask the school for subsidy with the textbooks and school necessities fees.After getting to know that most of our problems have been solved,me and my siblings then went to school with a piece of blue cloth each to show that we are mourning for our father.

dear diary,today is so stupid!After i came back from school,i am hungry and tired.When i ask her if we can have dinner she told me to wait for my other siblings to return.Even after my brother and my sisters have returned she insisted on waiting for ah hock before we can have dinner.When we are having dinner Ah hock talked so big about how much fun he can have the rest of us are in school listening to boring lessons.Mother also showed favouritism towards Ah hock by giving him more fish and rice for dinner.When i told Ah hock that i want to have a part-time job,he refused and told me that i need to study.I want to provide money for the family so that mother will favour me too.
After dinner, i wanted to watch the television for a while.But ah hock just interrupted our conversation and said no to me.It is so frustrating!Why cant he just let me work and have instead of being stuck in school?After that he even told us to be quiet and not wake him up.Not only mother favours him,he also had the privilege of waking up late.Thinking about that makes me so mad!

Dear diary, today is such a frustrating day! When i came home from school, i was tired and hungry. I asked Ma if we could have dinner but she insisted on waiting for Ah Hock to come home before having dinner.
When Ah Hock came home, he started boasting about how much fun he had while working when the rest of us are stuck in school!
During dinner, Ma was clearly showing favouritism towards Ah Hock by helping him take more rice and fish. When Ah Seng wanted more rice, Ma told him to get it by himself! I even asked Ah Hock if i could help out buy working at the shop after i came back from school but Ah Hock refused to let me work in the shop as i needed to study. I just wanted to help out by earning some money so Ma will appreciate me too!
After dinner, I asked Ma if i could watch television for awhile before going to sleep but before she could answer, Ah Hock cut in with a "No." Who does he think he is! My father? Fancy him telling me what to do all the time! I really wish i can go and work, i get scolded by the teachers all day as if i was still a little boy while Ah Hock has fun riding on a bicycle! He even told us not to wake him up when we go out early. So now he has the privilage of waking up late too?!
That just makes me more frustrated as i have to wake up at the crack of dawn to get ready for school.

Dear Diary,
I am so sad today.Why must father die?He was so good to us and always made us laugh.I feel that the one who is suffering the most is Mother as as she was crying very badly.I hope that he could rest in peace in heaven.Last time,he was in terrible pain and could not even recognise us.Like what Ah Nya said,if he lived he would suffer even more.I have promised Mother that I will give up on continuing my education and start to work in Mr Chong provision shop so that we would have enough money to survive.I told the rest of the children to complete their education so that life would be easier in the future when they have jobs and start earning more money.Luckily,the school can offer textbooks to us so we would not have to waste any money on buying school necessities.Even though Mother came up to me and told me that I could not complete my education,I felt alright as things would go better soon when the rest of the family gets jobs.I am very happy that Mr Chong offered me a job so that we can continue to live and I am willing to work very hard so that Mother would not worry.Father, you can now rest.Let me help you to support the family like what you had done last time.Life will be tough,but rest assured that we will continue to live life to the fullest.
